Hosted by Intermediae, the international kick-off meeting of the Another Roadmap School took place in Madrid from 18th to 22nd of october. The participants in the network collaborate to reflect and research on the histories, policies and possible alternative practices in arts education. At the meeting, participants from 21 working groups in Asia, Africa, the Americas and Europe together worked The Another Roadmap School , the platform for learning  and exchange of the network. Sharing and discussing planned and ongoing research activities , at the meeting joint projects between working groups for the pilot phase of the School between 2015 and 2018 were developed: on histories of arts education, the relation between arts education and social movements, arts education and other economies, as well as curriculum analysis and development. On Thursday 22, a  public presentation with panels in English and Spanish allowed for dicussion with researchers and practitioners in arts education and related fields in Spain.



Another Roadmap Africa Cluster

The Another Roadmap Africa Cluster consists of a group of scholars and practitioners of artistic and cultural education who are working in both formal and informal contexts within the African continent. Together they are collaborating to pursue a joint programme of research into arts educational practices in their respective localities within Africa. Their research is critically informed and grounded in historical analysis, particularly with respect to Africa’s colonial heritage. The group’s aim is to build a shared knowledge base and a structure of mutual learning that will benefit African practitioners and contribute to advances in thinking and practice worldwide.
