Emma Wolukau-Wanambwa is the founder member of the Kampala Working Group.
She studied Literature at Cambridge University and Art at the Slade School of Fine Art, University College London. She is currently Director of Research at the Nagenda International Academy of Art & Design (NIAAD) in Namulanda, Uganda and Research Fellow in Fine Art at the National Academy of Art & Design in Bergen, Norway.
The Kampala Working Group is currently researching the impact of British colonial governmentality and of ‘imperial epistemologies’ on the establishment and development of formal visual arts and visual arts education in Kampala in the first half of the twentieth century.
